CHAMPLAIN DOG CLUB MEETING MINUTES

ATTENDANCE:

EXECUTIVE:   Connie Johnson, Jen Marquardt/Barb Rose, Coleen Szombathelyi, Sandy Allen

 

MEMBERS: Bronwyn Hyland, Natalie Jalette (new member), Jill Kolar, Brenda Collver, Mike Brown, Jane Donohue, Dean Szombathelyi

 

*** a big welcome to new member Natalie...she has a soft coated Wheaten Terrier and she is interested in agility and obedience!!!!***

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 7:20 when Sandy arrived with a flourish!!!

 

MINUTES FROM LAST MONTH'S MTG. APPROVED BY Brenda

 

UNFINISHED/ON-GOING BUSINESS:

-shirts are here

-parade – float is not very big, we are looking for number of interested people, e-mail Linda Cooney if you are interested  lcooney151@sympatico.ca   -Brenda Collver and Jill Kolar say they will help

-Christmas Party committee, The consensus is we should go out….  Kelsey’s was suggested as a possible location due to their support of our show with the Best in Show money.  Sandy will make reservations.  The club will provide $10 each towards the meal.  Wed the 17^th of Dec. is suggested as a possible date with RSVP’s to secretary by Mon. Dec 1^st.

 

 

CORRESPONDENCE:

-Bob Rowbotham wants us to support him as he runs for CKC director.  He has offered to come to a meeting to meet us and answer questions Connie will extend an invitation if our next meeting is before the election date…..his e-mail is Bob Rowbotham bob@rock107.ca if anyone would like to speak to him.

-the Civic centre hall rates have been raised by $2.00 to $32.00 a night effective September 1, 2008.

-If you are a CKC member could you e-mail us your membership number to have on file????

 

 

TREASURER'S REPORT:

-Our balance as of Aug 31^st is 10761.68

-Brenda Dejong was paid some $ for laminating the signs for Rally obedience

-Shirts cost $770.00

-6 dates were booked at Rankin with 1 for the handling seminar

-Paws on Run was sent $100.00 for sign holders for Rally

-We have applied for a $1000 limit Visa credit card

 

 

PROPERTIES REPORT:

-its all good!!!

 

CONFORMATION DIRECTOR'S REPORT:

-We got our BIS cheque from Travelodge for 2009

-final judges have been submitted to CKC

-our 2010 and 2011 dates for the April show have been approved.

-Sherbrooke is no longer on that week-end

-Sandy is to call Kim at Kelseys to ask about our BIS cheque for 2009

-Bright eyes and Bushy Tails is also going to give a cheque

-we need sponsors for groups prizes if anyone can think of anyone who wants to sponsor, its $50 for a group and $25 for puppy group

-Premium  list is to be printed soon ready to be handed out at Ottawa show in Nov.

-show committee meeting needs to happen soon

OBEDIENCE DIRECTOR'S REPORT:

-1 more class is going to happen before Christmas

-registration is Oct 27^th and will go to Dec. 8^th.  We already have 11 names no real need to advertise

-there has been positive feedback to the new “station” format -Jill (T-touch),  Sandy (Recall), Ivale (Sit & Down Stay) & Brenda (Loose leash walking) - Also helping were Kelly, Brigitte & Bronwyn 

-Rally class is going really well (way to go Sandy and Barb)

-Our Kim Cooper seminar has 16 handler teams registered and if people are interested in auditing they can for $15 for the day…no need to preregister for auditing just show up

 

PUBLIC RELATIONS:

-newspaper article submission is in progress

-pictures to be taken at the last class

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

-Disc Dog with Hess Gallagher was attended by Barb, Kelly and Jill on Thanksgiving Monday it was a very good positive performance  -Upper Ottawa Valley Disc Dog Association

-On Saturday November 8^th there will be a Therapeutic Paws of Canada dog evaluation.  If you are interested your dog must be at least a year old and an outline of the test is available at the TPOC website.. http://www.tpoc.ca/TherapyDogEvaluation.asp
