CHAMPLAIN DOG CLUB MEETING MINUTES,
February 20th, 2008
Petawawa Civic Centre,
Welcome first to new member Susan Norris-MacInnis who I missed in the
Meeting called to order at 7:05. Minutes approved & seconded (Jill & Sandy)
EXECUTIVE PRESENT: Connie Johnson, Colleen Szombathelyi, Sandy Allen & Barb
MEMBERS PRESENT: Scott Johnson, Jen Marquardt, Linda Griffin, Chelsea
Brenda DeJong, Jill Kolar, Ivale Brown, Mike Brown, Lori Ringer,
Motion #2 - Executive expenditures ($500.00) has been put ahead to next
give Jill some time to come up with some guidelines.
Motion #4 - "Active" member tabled until the next Annual General Mtg.
Executive will meet before that time to work on this one.

Jane will be doing up the schedule when she gets back next week, so if you

If you didn't get into the clinic you may audit (come without your dog).

PUBLIC RELATIONS: Jen is going to contact one of the local papers to see if
cover the clinic.
The membership booklets were handed out to the members present and will be
the March meeting, as well. You may pick yours up then. From time to time,
send out notices asking you to update the membership list, etc. so keep it
NEW WEBSITE: It has been decided to go ahead with the new website. Connie
looked after getting the pop-ups blocked ($14.95US, plus $4.95 per month).

Please note that it is still a work in progress and report any errors & or
omissions to us.
Connie suggested having a CHAMPLAIN DOG CLUB MASTER CARD
with the bank that holds our account. Sandy is going to look into
getting one for the MINIMUM amount so that members of the executive do not
have to use personal credit card #'s. VOTE TAKEN & PASSED.
Sandy is also going to look into on-line banking, as this would make it
easier for some to get membership, etc. in on time.
OBEDIENCE DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
This set of classes will finish up on Monday, February 25th. A question
came from new member Linda about the next set of classes. We have
tentatively decided to run another set of classes from Mar. 3 to Apr. 7.
We would hold registration on Feb. 25th at 8:15 following our last class.

CONFORMATION DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
Show Committee met on Jan. 23, 2008. Connie posts minutes on the
website. The committee is looking for volunteers for our April Show which
is on April 11, 12 & 13th. We are asking for your help with the
1. Set-up on April 10th during the day.
2. AT THE DOOR, on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, to admit members
of the public to the show.
3. CLEAN-UP on Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday, "cleaning up" after
dogs in the arena area during the conformation shows
4. Helping Sandy with the catering
5. Take down on Sunday after last BEST IN SHOW!

Everything is now listed on the new website: Mike & Ivale still have
everything but it will be moving to Jen's at some point in the near future.
AGILITY DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL MEMBERS REGARDLESS OF YOUR SKILL LEVEL:
Please contact Chelsea at email@example.com and let her know
1. if you are interested in doing some agility with your dog(s)
2. what your experience is to date (beginner's welcome, just let her know
that you are first timers)
Please get this information in to her, as soon as you can, so that we can
plans for the upcoming season.
PROPERTIES DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Dean was not able to attend.
Connie is looking into WICKET prices to compare with CKC's to see where
we can get the better deal. RAMPS for conformation were also discussed.
Apparently this is a piece of equipment being used by some judges when
evaluating certain breeds of dogs. Connie will also look into this.
Barb to do some pricing on vinyl mats which would be used for practice
mats for clinics, etc.
Breeding Better Dogs, March 31/June 1 in Rankin. This seminar is being
put on by our club and is for anyone interested in breeding but also for
those interested in structure/movement & how it affects performance
(i.e dog sports). For more information, check out the website or contact
DISCOUNT RATE: Champlain Dog Club Members who apply for the seminar before
March 15th can sign up for the special rate of $100.00 for the two-day
Sandy made out a cheque for $33.00 for the OVGR CLUB (Golden Retriever
Booster during the April Show).
CHAMPLAIN DOG CLUB CLOTHING:
We are looking into possibly ordering some clothing with our club LOGO
on it. The LOGO would be similar to the one of the new membership
booklets. We are looking at RED shirts, etc. as that is our club colour.
1. Embroidered sweats, $30.00 - $40.00.
2. Embroidered polo's, cheaper version $25.00 - $30.00, more expensive
white trim would run almost $50.00.
3. Jackets, $100-$110.
4. T's (silkscreen rather than embroidered), $12.00 - $15.00
Let us know, if you might be interested in something like this.
MEETING WAS ADJOURNED AT 7:55 AND AWARDS WERE HANDED OUT.
Congratulations go out to all the members who were recognized for their
achievements with their dogs.
