CHAMPLAIN DOG CLUB MEETING MINUTES
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
PETAWAWA CIVIC CENTRE LOUNGE
September 17th, 2008


ATTENDANCE:

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 7:00pm

MINUTES FROM LAST MONTH - APPROVED BY Jill Kolar

UNFINISHED/ON-GOING BUSINESS:
Leisure Show: (Report from Jill)
-went well, demo was very successful despite the noise, etc.
-dogs/handlers went up on the stage in the demo area
(Thanks to Kelly & Rustik, Ivale & Iris, Jen & Tobi and the puppies who
delighted the crowd, and also to Jill & Devo for hosting the demo and
to Jill for her organization.)
-also present to help out with the table were Sandy & Breagh, Linda G. &
Barb
-RDOG posters were on display, and we handed out several Theraputic
Paws Flyers, as well as club brochures
-signed up participants for current and next set of classes
- OF NOTE: most kids at Show did ask before approaching the dogs but
not all of the adults did

RDOG DAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH, 2008,
-not going to do anything this year, but hope to make plans in advance for
next year
-Sandy cancelled the hall
-Sec. has posters and will give to Jen to put in the Library

T-SHIRTS:
-current orders will be filled first or second week in October
-will let you know when they are ready
-cheques payable to Champlain Dog Club due in to Sandy
now or when shirts become available (next mtg./classes)
-see previous minutes for prices


CORRESPONDENCE:

CONFERENCE OF ALL BREED KENNEL CLUBS FOR EASTERN ONT.
Re: concern as to why the entries are down, etc.
-mtg. took place on Sat. Sept. 20th at Black's Corners but we were unable
to send a representative at that time

TREASURER'S REPORT: Sandy was absent but reported a balance of
approx. $10,000 with a new deposit of $1100 from OBEDIENCE CLASSES
-profit from current set of classes approx. $600.

PROPERTIES REPORT: Dean was absent.
-tunnel/wobble board were used at Leisure Show and were put in shed
-jumps are at Sandy's for now but will be moved


CONFORMATION/SHOW DIRECTOR'S REPORT:  Connie Johnson
-show dates are April 10, 11, 12, 2009 (Easter Weekend)
-Terrier Booster for 2009
-last obedience judge has been booked for 2009
-something special for Easter (hunt, turkey dinner)
PREMIUM LIST: -anyone who wishes to sponsor a group,
please let Connie know NOW/YESTERDAY/URGENTLY
- (Puppy -$25.00, Group - $50.00)
-Jill felt Deep River Club would be able to sponsor again this year
-we need volunteers to go out in each community to get advertisements
for the catalogue - get in touch with Connie for details
PRIORITY DATES: -CKC is still working on mileage/grandfathering
-however, we should have no conflicts so the next 5 years are tentatively
booked and should be no problem

AGILITY DIRECTOR'S REPORT:  New Agility Director
(See below)

OBEDIENCE DIRECTOR'S REPORT:  Jill Kolar
-Family Dog Class session full/ new format with stations to work
on (1) Ttouch/Handling/Body Awareness (2) Recall (3) Sit/Down Stay
(4) Loose Leash Walking
-Rally Novice Class offered for members & a few non-members also full

KIM COOPER (OBEDIENCE TRAINING): Jane Donohue
-arrangements are in the works to bring Kim back for 6 sessions, at a cost
of $175.00 each (open to members only)
-Dates: Oct. 25, Nov. 22, Dec. 20, Jan. 24, Feb. 21, Mar. 21 (weather
permitting)
-sessions held at Rankin Community Centre with the exception of Nov. 22
-you must sign up for all six sessions
-Jane is keeping the list at sdonohue@nrtco.net
-SEE JANE'S LAST EMAIL FOR MORE CONTACT INFO, ETC.

PUBLIC RELATIONS: Jen Marquardt
-work in progress at getting something in to the paper from Leisure Show
& classes
-discussed the possiblity of getting something about the club in the papers
monthly
-Jen to contact Anthony Dixon and Jill to help with preparing some items

NEW BUSINESS:
SANTA CLAUS PARADE
-discussion about entering a float in this year's Pembroke Parade on Nov.
25th
-theme: FAVOURITE HOLIDAY MEMORY
-INTEREST: Linda C. thinks she might be able to supply a small float with
generator, as lights are required this year
-interested members present were: Brigitte, Jill, Mike, Brenda C. Connie,
-the information letters, etc. were given to Linda and she will be the
contact
person,
-if you would like more information or want to help get in touch with her

OCTOBER 4TH - St. Francis of Assisi and the Blessing of the Animals
(club used to celebrate this date yrs ago)
-look at setting something up for next year, possibly at the Marina, etc.

FALL FAIRS:
-suggestion was made that it would be good publicity for us to do some
demonstrations at local events, to this is something to consider for next
year, as well

ELECTIONS:  As there were no nominations submitted, the executive will
remain the same with the exception of the following:
Jane has agreed to become the AGILITY DIRECTOR, as Chelsea has
asked that her name be withdrawn.

Jen will take over some of the secretarial duties as of next month,
so this will be my last newsletter for awhile, unless Jen gets swamped with
her other many other responsiblities.
